Intrepid Book Club

Join fellow veterans, service members and military family members at the Intrepid Museum for a lively book discussion over light refreshments! The Intrepid Book Club meets quarterly for a two-hour facilitated discussion with an introduction related to the Museum’s collection and crew. Books are a mix of fiction and nonfiction, all related to military or military family experiences. Light refreshments are served and there is time for socializing. Copies of the books are available for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

At this meeting, we will be discussing the National Book Award finalist The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. This lyrical novel follows two friends as they try to keep each other alive on the battlefields in Iraq. “An elegiac, sober and haunting coming-of-age war story”- Jim Frederick, TIME

Moderator - Reed Bonadonna is a former Marine Corps infantry officer and field historian. He is the author of Soldiers and Civilization: How the Profession of Arms Thought and Fought the Modern World into Existence and other works on military ethics and professionalism.


The Intrepid Book Club is free to attend for all current and former service members and their families, spouses and partners, with advanced registration.
