About this event
The histories of Canada and South Asia are deeply intertwined, through the history of the British Empire and through anti-imperial resistance; through global histories of migration and cultural exchange; and through the continuous unfolding of South Asian Canadian histories.
This talk will explore aspects of these interconnected histories through theatre, visual art, and literary production. with a special focus on the Punjabi language as a Canadian, as well as a South Asian language. We will look at the ways the Punjabi Canadian Diaspora provides an important place to explore global Punjabi's literary and linguistic history. The lecture will include works of South Asian Canadian art that will be featured in two exhibitions at The Reach Gallery Museum in Abbotsford in summer 2020.
This event is free and open to the public – we hope to see you there!
