Event description

Description

A follow-up conversation on the topics discussed during the 2019 African-American Mental Health Conference panel discussion entitled “An Exploration of the Role of Mental Health in Communities of Faith”.

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in the mental health needs of their community (church, workplace, family, social networks, business, etc.) within a faith-based environment. How do you balance the demands of mental health in a spiritual/faith environment? What can communities of faith do to lessen the stigma so often associated with the need to access mental health services? How can pastors and other religious leaders be better equipped to recognize and respond to the mental health needs of their congregants? These are the types of concerns that will be discussed during this desperately needed conversation.

Join us!!! You will NOT be disappointed (we're also providing FREE LUNCH)!!!

Topics include:

    • Suicide Prevention

    • General information on mental health and faith/spirituality (maybe during the introduction?)

    • Addressing the mental health and suicide rates among youth, and specifically speaking about ways to support LGBTQ youth

    • Hopes and Dreams

    • Next Steps to take as a community to address mental health and faith.

    • Q&A time for the attendees to engage in a dialogue with the panel, as well
