Description

Law Enforcement & Investigative Perspective:

How easily do teens get drawn into internet sites by predators? What behaviors are making our
children more vulnerable to these nefarious people? What behaviors can children be encouraged to
practice being “safer” while using the internet?
Tony Godwin, Detective with the Garland Police Department, will provide information and examples of
how teens are lured into risky relationships through internet sites.
These internet sites can be dangerous whether legal or illegal. Detective Godwin will discuss how
teens are ensnared into unsafe - sexually exploitive and abusive relations through the internet. He
will also help us understand the perils of the Dark Web.
Det. Godwin works with the Northern Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)Task Force. His
undercover online investigations have successfully resulted in the prosecution of offenders in
State and Federal Courts.

Service Provider’s Perspective:

What happens to exploited teens and their family members? How can professionals help?
What do victims of sexual exploitation need? Respect, dignity and services that include the family.
Based on 20 years of experience in Behavioral Health, dealing with both adults and adolescents,
Renee Breazeale specialized in working with victims of sexual exploitation and the resulting
trauma. She is currently the Program Manager/Sr. Victim Advocate Dallas County District Attorney
Office. Renee will help us understand the addiction process involved with these victims. She will
present strategies to help when addressing families facing the trauma of the exploitation.
