Women’s History Month Celebration

About this Event

The Interchurch Center (TIC) celebrates its 60th anniversary of offering continuous service to its neighboring residents and beyond.

On Thursday, March 19th, starting at 9am, women leaders from the non-profit and faith-based sectors in Harlem will be recognized for their contributions. Invited to participate are New York Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Rev. Dr. Katharine Henderson of Auburn Theological Seminary, Rev. Dr. Serene Jones of Union Theological Seminary, and Ayo Roach, board member of the New York Women’s Foundation, which is a sponsor of the event.

The keynote will be delivered by Dr. Lakeesha Walrond, the first woman to lead The New York Theological Seminary in its 119-year history. A program of music will be provided by Rev. Pamela L. Ward, pastor and founder of Grace Alive Christian Fellowship.

A highlight of the morning program will be the presentation to an undisclosed recipient of the Ruth Stafford Peale Award, named for a Founding Trustee of the Interchurch Center who worked with the Rockefeller Family to create and establish TIC in 1960.
