The Innovator’s Dilemma

Delivering the products customers actually want – Addressing key challenges in Innovation

Presented by: Jeff Baker, Strategy Adviser, Strategyn Consulting

Why do 70-90% of new products fail?  More importantly, as innovators, how has this become a norm we accept?  This presentation will explore a different way of thinking about customers and share a series of discoveries that can transform innovation from a black box into a well-defined process that consistently produces successes instead of failures.

Jeff Baker spent 12 years as a strategist and market research manager at Microsoft.  Now an Innovation Management consultant, he will share insights and war stories from his experiences working side-by-side with dozens of Development teams at Microsoft and beyond.  Having a new-and-improved understanding of customers is only half the battle.  That understanding must be paired with internal business processes designed to overcome the challenges that often lead to the launch of products that fail to live up to company expectations.

In this session we’ll do a short exercise to give you a taste of how a more structured, disciplined approach can actually unleash more creative energy among your development teams.
