Event description

Description

For decades, the construction of large amounts of parking was mandated through parking minimums and other policies. Now, with recent research showing that overbuilt parking can have negative financial and environmental impacts on communities, policy and practice are being reevaluated.

Join the Metro Transit TOD Office on May 21st at 8:00 am for a look at the experiences of parking reform in the Twin Cities region. You'll hear from city staff how parking policies have changed, and from practitioners who have designed and built dense, low-parking housing. Together these professionals will share their experiences in how reduced parking supports efficient, sustainable, and affordable growth in cities of all sizes in our region.
