About this Event

Plastic pollution is an environmental and social justice issue. It has become one of the most pressing environmental issues, as rapidly increasing production of disposable plastic products overwhelms the world’s ability to deal with them. Plastic pollution is most visible in developing Asian and African nations, where garbage collection systems are often inefficient or nonexistent. On top of that, western countries send their trash to MAPA!⠀

Jane Patton is a Senior Campaigner with the Center for International Environmental Law and a co-founder of a zero waste group, No Waste Louisiana. Her work focuses primarily on policy and practice to eliminate pollution along the full life cycle of plastics, with a focus on reducing harm and increasing justice.⠀

Kevin Mtai is a medical laboratory technologist (Microbiologist) by profession and is a climate Justice Activist and environmental defender, he has been volunteering in protection of nature and is a Champion for SDGs for more than 4 years. He is Co-founder of Kenya Environmental Action Network [KEAN], and Africa Coordinator for Earth Uprising. ⠀
