Description
THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, two extraordinary performances, at Sunnyvale Theater, Sunnyvale, CA, March 31, 7:00 p.m. and April 8, 2:00 p.m.
Story based on Victor Hugo’s masterpiece Notre Dame de Paris, directed by Bay Area based French-Vietnamese artist, Hao Bach-Thai Lueckhoff. This special local event combines dance, acting and singing, with artistic lighting and costumes to marvel children and adults alike. All the performers are local children, age 10 to 17, students of the weekly Movement Based Acting classes offered through the Community Services Division of the City of Sunnyvale and trained by Hao Bach-Thai Lueckhoff.
Three things to know about HaoExpression's The Hunchback of Notre Dame:
1. The performance is in English. The script was written straight from Victor Hugo's chef d’oeuvre. The play is full of touching quotes from the French author.
2. It is a multidisciplinary performance, a combination of three performing art disciplines: dance, musical and theater.
3. The making of the play is "process based". Simple scores are given but leave ample room for self expression and creativity. Performers are featured according to their specific skills, either in acting, singing, dancing, or a combination of severals.
