Description

What is the The Human Rights Law for Unionized Employees Workshop?

This workshop is part of Franklin Law's Employees First series of courses and workshops.

In addition to exploring basic human rights concepts such as discrimination, harassment, accommodation, and reprisal under Ontario’s Human Rights Code, Franklin Law’s “The Human Rights Workshop for Unionized Employees” provides unionized employees, and those who support them, with information that will help them to better understand important differences between filing human rights-related Applications before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO) and pursuing human rights-related Grievances before arbitrators in the grievance arbitration process. Through this unique 2.5-hour course, unionized employees and union representatives will receive legal information that will better position them to figure out what options might serve their interests best in a given situation. This Course is essential for unionized employees who are considering whether or not to file human rights Applications at the HRTO, unionized employees who are considering whether or not to ask their Union to file human rights-related Grievances on their behalf, and Union Representatives who want to provide their members with information about their legal options with a greater degree of confidence.

**Please note that we do not provide legal advice about individual employee situations during the workshop.

Why you should attend?

- Talk with lawyers from one of the few human rights, employment, and labour law firms in Ontario with years of experience supporting, advising, and representing individual unionized employees

- Talk with insiders who have represented unionized employees and worked with unions in cases at the HRTO and in grievance arbitration
- Access important legal information from insiders that may not be readily available to the public
- Courses are offered after business hours so you don’t have to take time away from work
- You pay only $50.00 plus HST for the workshop and all materials.

Who is Franklin Law?

Franklin Law is made up of a select group of human rights lawyers, employment lawyers, and labour lawyers, all of whom have made a conscious decision to support and represent employees and other working people. We fight injustice at work because we know about the discrimination, harassment, bullying, and other mistreatment that employees often put up with, and about the injustices that they suffer when they are wrongfully dismissed without compensation or severance pay. For more information about Franklin Law and the services that we provide, visit our website by clicking here or call us at 416-572-8525.
