Description
Evergreen Museum & Library's annual spring lecture series, The House Beautiful, presents a trio of illustrated talks by notable experts in the fields of architecture, design and decorative arts. Talks are at 6:30 p.m. in the Bakst Theatre, followed by a reception with the speaker in the Far East Room.
The series begins on Wednesday, April 11, with a lecture on noted Beaux Arts architect Laurence Hall Fowler by Amy Kimball, Materials Manager of Special Collections at The Sheridan Libraries. The talk will explore the Baltimore-born Fowler's artistic development and his many contributions to local residential and municipal architecture.
The series continues on Wednesday, May 2, with a talk on modern-day Cuban interiors by architect and author Hermes Mallea, whose most recent book, Havana Living Today: Cuban Home Style Now, explores interior decor in contemporary Havana. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
The 2018 series concludes on Wednesday, May 16, with a talk by Robert A. Baird, the founder of Historical Arts & Casting, the firm that recently completed the restoration of the U.S. Capitol's dome.
