Celebrating the Legacy of Judge McKinley and Honoring Black Women of the Judiciary
Featuring
The Honorable Brenda Harbin-Forte
The Honorable Patricia Ann McKinley, a native of Richmond, California who was an active member of Black Women Lawyers of Northern California, was appointed to the Bay Municipal Court by Governor Jerry Brown in 1982. At age 33, Judge McKinley was the youngest and first African-American woman ever appointed to that court, and after just three years on the bench, her colleagues named her Presiding Judge. In 1986, Judge McKinley tragically lost her battle with cancer at the age of 37 but her legacy lives on. The Patricia Ann McKinley Memorial Luncheon celebrates the trail-blazing accomplishments of Judge McKinley and honors the women of the judiciary.
