Description

Career surveyor Jack Bueche will walk us through the division of the state of Michigan into counties, townships, sections and parcels. His presentation will include details of the early surveyors and the hardships that they endured. "Map Junkies" will enjoy Jack's explanation of the state's baseline and meridian, and the disputes over the southern border with adjacent states. Jack will explain how mapmakers adjust for the curvature of the earth and will also have historic artifacts to share with attendees, including a piece of a "Bearing Tree".
