Event description

Description

Come and drink wine while participating in a panel discussion on health insurance. Healthcare has become one of the more debated issues in our country. But the more we debate the more polarized we become. Come and learn more about health insurance, as well as stratagies for debate across the aisle.

Panel will include:

1) F Perry Wilson MD MS, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Yale, will discuss the data that supports (or doesn't support) the benefits of health insurance.

2) Aparajita Sohoni MD, emergency medicine physician CPMC, Highland Hospital, and Kaiser Oakland, will share her perspective on the volume in the Emergency Department at 4 different hospitals in the Bay Area before and after the affordable care act.

3) Sharmila Sohoni, Professor of Law USD, will explain the law behind ACA, what was present previously, some possible shortcomings of the ACA, and briefly touch on the pros and cons of universal heathcare. There will be an emphasis on understanding conservative perspective as well as the liberal one.
