OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
This healing session series will use expressive arts and humanistic structures to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of self with individuals dealing with depression, trauma, loss/grief and/or emotional responses to current events related to the oppression and disenfranchisement of black and brown people.
The purpose of the healing session series is to provide a safe space for people of color to heal through group experiences, interventions and psychoeducational practice. The healing sessions invest in the health and safety of black and brown people, instead of investments in the criminalizing, caging, and harming of black and brown people. We want invest-in black and brown communities, determined by Black communities, and divestment from exploitative forces including prisons, police and exploitative corporations.
Participants will be able to learn and utilize alternative coping skills for the purpose of self-grounding, tension release, elevated mood, mood stability, prevent self harm urges, prevent depressive symptoms, learn ways to explore and express feelings, verbally and nonverbally, and enhance a positive sense of well being.
All participants should come dressed in comfortable clothing. Bring a notebook and something to write with (Pencil/Pen).
Monetary Donation of $5 or what participants are able to give.
