About this Event

THE HEAD

Brothers Mike Shaw (bass, vocals) and Jack Shaw (drums) and Jacob Morrell (guitars) have been jamming together since high school, writing and performing original songs inspired by the bands they love: trippy Brits like Stone Roses, Spiritualized, Ride, The Verve and Echo and the Bunnymen, and moody Americans like The National, Scott Walker and early R.E.M.

The Head have released two records, Millipedes (2015) and Space (2017), and have headlined tours throughout the U.S. and U.K. They’ve also shared the stage with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Lucy Dacus, The Glorious Sons and Primal Scream, to name a few. In between touring, The Head continue to record and release singles.

CHLOE KAY

Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Chloe Kay has been singing since she was a young child, and has been writing songs since she was an early teenager. Chloe’s greatest influence on her vocal style is the late jazz singing queen Ella Fitzgerald, though Chloe takes inspiration also from Stevie Nicks in her Fleetwood Mac era. Her unique style is buoyed by her classic-rock inspired band, all of whom she sang alongside extensively while in high school back in Tucson, developing a chemistry built only by time and friendship.

THE SUNSETS

The Sunsets provide an energetic show like no other. With original material influenced by 1980s new wave rock, the band delivers a high energy show with crisp synthesizers, driving guitars, explosive drums, and a roaring saxophone that is sure to get you off your feet.

The band's debut album “Heartbeat Massacre” is now available online for purchase/streaming on all major platforms. “Heartbeat Massacre” was recorded in a record time of five days at The Sound Shelter in Nashville, TN under friend/engineer/producer Brett R. Stewart and was financed entirely through gigging in 2017. The album was mastered by Hans DeKline Mastering in Los Angeles, CA. “Heartbeat Massacre” provides an array of upbeat songs inspired by various events that occur as the sun falls and covers topics such as love, heartbreak, neon, vampires, and much more, encapsulated in a love letter to a long-lost decade.

Our Story Thus Far:

Our story began on New Year’s Day 2015 in Jacksonville, AL when Torsten Dryden (vocals/songwriter/keys) began working on a collection of demos that would serve as the first incarnation of The Sunsets. Obsessed with the 1980s new wave British Invasion, Torsten wanted to write music that captured the energy, but was still accessible to the modern ear. He quickly recruited a longtime friend/former classmate Dan O’Donnell (saxophone/backing vocals) to lend his talents in order to supplement the sound incorporating the sax as a lead instrument. Breihan Dryden (drums/percussion) swiftly followed-suit to provide a unique twist to the percussion section. In 2018, Jack Vermuth (Bass/Rhythm Guitar) joined the group forming the band's current lineup.

In May of 2016, the band recorded their debut demo EP “Fatal Attraction” at The Sound Shelter and continued to hone their craft throughout the year playing various clubs, bars, and restaurants. The band closed out their year by performing as direct support for The Ataris in Atlanta, GA at the infamous Masquerade.

2017 began with the recording of their debut album “Heartbeat Massacre”. 2017 also brought the band to new heights as they performed at high-profile engagements such as “Destination Okeechobee 2017” (Gainesville, FL) and the Cutting Edge (CE) Music Business Conference (New Orleans, LA). The band also provided direct support for notable acts in Atlanta, GA such as She Wants Revenge (Interscope Records/Universal Music Group), Alvarez Kings (Warner Bros. Records / Sire), and Emarosa (Hopeless Records / Rise Records) at the Masquerade.

On July 1, 2018, the band released their debut album "Heartbeat Massacre" performing it's entirety live at The Masquerade [Hell].

The band also actively participates in philanthropic ventures and has partnered with Children's Miracle Network, The Choice: A Mental Health Initiative, Neverthirst India Well Project, and The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Since 2015, the band has performed hundreds of shows in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana at various venues including clubs, festivals, conferences, restaurants, bars, houses, universities, and scuba diving parks. They have made countless friends along the way and their story is far from over. Thank you for supporting our dream, listening to our music, and being a vital part of our journey in music.

The band is currently submitting to record labels.

Welcome to the world of The Sunsets. Welcome to our story.
