Event description

Description

The NAACP’s Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.

ACT-SO includes 32 competitions in STEM, humanities, business, and performing, visual and culinary arts. Almost 300,000 young people have participated from the program since its inception. For over thirty years the mission of ACT-SO has been to prepare, recognize and reward youth of African descent who exemplify scholastic and artistic excellence.

On February 24, 2018, the Hampton Chapter of ACT-SO will host an event entitled, “Celebrating Our Youth Through the Arts” at the Fort Monroe Community Center in Hampton, Virginia from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.. This purpose of this event is to raise $10,000 that will provide financial support for our students as they travel to San Antonio this summer, July 12 - 15, 2018, for the ACT-SO National Competition.

You are cordially invited to join us as we enjoy a catered brunch, entertainment, and a guest speaker. With your help we can provide and assist students with the necessary skills to establish goals and acquire the confidence and training to make a successful contribution to society.

We thank you in advance for your attendance.
