The Great Revere Day At The Races
Event Information
Description
Come Celebrate one of the final days of Live Racing at historic Suffolk Downs Racetrack at The Great Revere Day at the Races and help The Beachmont Improvement Committee(BIC) raise funds to support "Stairways to Revere," an effort to restore the city's public stairways.
The Beachmont Improvement Committee’s (BIC) Great Revere Day At the Races is ramping up to be one of the must-attend events of the season. This Great Day will celebrate the rich history of Suffolk Downs and its connection to our city, while looking ahead to the future.
Our racing-themed VIP experience takes place on Saturday May 18, 2019 at 12 pm at Suffolk Down’s Topsider Room during one of its FINAL live thoroughbred racing days. It’s the end of an era for this institution, which has been an integral part of Revere’s history for over 80 years.
While historically significant, the event will also serve as a fundraiser to directly benefit the “Stairways to Revere,” project, which will result in the much-needed restoration of public stairways throughout the City of Revere.
Highlights of the event include:
- A Full Day of Live Racing
- Viewing of Maryland’s Preakness Stakes Simulcast
- Live Entertainment
- Food & Drinks
- Prizes for Day at the Races themed "Best Hat" & "Best Dressed"
- Raffles & 50/50
- Silent Auctions
- Event site will be updated as more details are available
So, please join us to salute our long-time neighbor, Suffolk Downs, and support the BIC in its efforts to raise funds to restore an integral part of our community. Single tickets for the event are $50, with Reserved Tables of 10 also available (BIC has agreed to absorb all payment processing fees). This is an 18 and older event. Ticket availability is limited and is expected be in high demand. There will be NO tickets sold at the door.
There are also a wide range of Sponsorship Opportunities available for those local companies and organizations that would like to participate and promote their community involvement during our event.
About Stairways to Revere: The origin and use of Beachmont’s public stairs dates back to the late 19th/early 20th centuries, when visitors would come and camp on the hills of Beachmont for access to the nearby therapeutic sea air and its salt water beaches. The stairs are a historical part of the Beachmont and deserve to be preserved as such. Presently, the stairs are a major point of access around Beachmont for our residents, many of whom rely on safe walking access to schools, businesses and public transportation facilities. We believe safe access to these stairs will improve public safety, promote healthier lifestyles and improve connectivity in and around the City of Revere.
While we are aware of the poor condition of Beachmont’s public stairs, the BIC is also aware of repairs and replacements needed for public stairways throughout the City of Revere, which led us to widen the scope from “Stairways to Beachmont” to “Stairways to Revere.”
