It’s time to get ducky! The Great Appomattox Duck Race & Festival is here to benefit homeless pets in our community! Everyone is encouraged to adopt a rubber duck NOW…then spend a fun-filled day at the festival to cheer on their duck as they race down the Appomattox River. The grand prize is guaranteed to be at least $500 in cash, and the prize amounts will increase with the number of ducks adopted.
Anyone 18 & up can adopt a duck for just $5. Proceeds from The Great Appomattox River Duck Race benefit Off the Chain Animal Rescue, a local 501c3 charity.
Rubber ducks are available for adoption online using a credit card at Eventbrite.com or you can adopt a duck in person (cash only) at the Appomattox Boat Harbor & Harbor Blast events PRIOR TO THE DAY OF THE EVENT. In addition, ducks are available at a variety of community events, including Farmers Markets, and more. We can’t guarantee any ducks will be available to adopt on the day of the race - so get your ducks in a row before the event!
The Duck Race & Festival is held at the Appomattox Boat Harbor festival area. The exact time of the race will be announced on the Facebook event page and depends upon the tidal current that day. Best advice is to get here early and enjoy the fun! There will be outdoor games, vendors, raffles, prizes, food and beverages, and delicious baked goodies! The prize winner will be announced shortly after the conclusion of the race. Winners do not need to be present. This event is made possible by the Appomattox Boat Harbor, as well as the many sponsors and volunteers.

Welcome to Harbor Blast Community Concert Series. The tri-cities' longest-running concert series, held at the Appomattox Boat Harbor. Located less than 2 miles East of the Temple Avenue (Colonial Heights) exit on I-95, the venue is a little piece of paradise on the Appomattox River. The outdoor festival is family-friendly and is held on Saturday afternoons from April through October, rain or shine. Local, regional, and national musical talent graces the stage while local charities raise money with raffles, vendors, outdoor games, cold drinks and delicious food. Come join us!
