The Global March for Elephants and Rhinos ATX is a Family Friendly event on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 10am-2pm. We will March in Solidarity with over 150 Cities around the world across the S. Congress St. Bridge to Palm Park to hear Experts share the crisis facing wildlife and the potential EXTINCTION of some of earth's most iconic species in the near future. We will learn about what we can all do to help save species from vanishing forever.
Assemble with us at 10am in the FREE Parking Lot off of 118 E. Riverside Drive to March across the S. Congress St Bridge to Palm Park with our African Drummers - The Afro Carribean Soul Collective - to Palm Park. Please arrive between 10am-10:30am so we can get organized and line up the walk to the park.
The Global March ATX will be a fun filled event with educational outreach materials and speeches for a great cause supported by Austin and surrounding communities' values and compassion for animal welfare around the world.
This date is the opening day of the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna) CoP17 in Johannesburg, South Africa when thousands across the globe will March to influence the CITES VOTE to end the Ivory and Rhino Horn Trade and implement other laws and policies to protect all endangered species. The Global March ATX will have a Representative streaming live from CITES to bring us up to date on all of the issues and activities there on site.
All Austin and surrounding communities: families, friends, neighbors, co-workers and pets on a leash are welcome to share this feel-good event for a worthy cause. Elephants and rhinos are being poached across Africa and may go extinct in only 10 years. Please help us reverse this crisis and save endangered species by coming together as ONE VOICE to DEMAND PROTECTION OF THESE KEYSTONE SPECIES. This is the world's most powerful grassroots movement taking action to end the slaughter of endangered species and secure a future for wildlife living in their natural habitats as a permanent part of our natural world. For detailed information about the March and its Mission, please visit our website: www.marchforelephantsatx.org
Please support the March by donating to our YouCaring fundraising account:
One elephant is killed every 15 minutes, 96 per day, over 100,000 in 3 years. One rhino is killed every 6 hours. We March to demand an end to the ivory and rhino horn trade permanently. Losing species to extinction is the epic battle of our generation! We must come together to have our voice heard and save earth's most valuable treasures. The March raises awareness and funds to support fieldwork on the front lines of this crisis and those funds are donated to the best non-profit wildlife conservation organizations working to end poaching, trafficking and demand. Please visit our website at: www.marchforelephantsatx.org to learn more about the charities we support.
The Global March ATX works to influence governments, lawmakers, CITES, Ambassadors and Policy Makers around the world to take immediate action to protect species. We partner with The Global March for Elephants and Rhinos International as well as other non-profits to change laws and policies to protect species. Please visit our website to get informed about our Strategies and Goals for 2016.
