The GirlTrek 137 Women's Walk
Event Information
Description
The GirlTrek 137 Women's Walk 2018 was born out of the desire to bring awareness to the 137 Black women that die from heart disease every day. We also want to introduce the GirlTrek platform, as well as shed light on the health and spiritual benefits of walking on a daily basis. Black women are dying at a faster rate and at a higher rate than any other group of people from preventable, obesity-related diseases. Come and walk with your sisters in the local area and begin the dialogue around this pivotal health issue. We will also talk about the various issues that affect Black women and our community, including social justice and the education of our children. The goal is to implement solutions that will empower us to save our own lives. Now is the time.
Our guest speakers include Dr. Aya Eneli, Dr. Christine Mann, Mrs. Lolita Gilmore and Ms. Talitha Morrow.
This is a free event. T-shirts are available for purchase when registering online. Registration deadline is March 30, 2018. If you decide to purchase a T-shirt, please email villageunited254@gmail.com with shirt size.
