The aroma of gingerbread fills the air in Yellow Springs from 11-2 on Saturday, December 10th at the Second Annual Gingerbread Festival to benefit the Mills Lawn Elementary School PTO. A whole offering of sweet family holiday activities will take place starting with our homemade gingerbread creation competition. Design, bake, and decorate your own gingerbread creation at home to compete for prizes and bragging rights. You don’t need to be a baker to enjoy the rest of our festive afternoon activities. Bring in the kids to decorate one of our cookie cottage kits featuring the Young’s Sweet Shoppe at 11-2 ($6 fee day of event/first come first served). The Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce invites you to share your list with Santa when he arrives at noon. Warm up with coffee from The Roastery and treats from Three Leee Cupcakery. Kids can shop and wrap their personally chosen gifts with the help of elves at the Tyke Shop sponsored by Asanda Imports. Enter a drawing to win a live tree from Carl and Dorothy Young’s Christmas Trees or to be an Official Light Flipper for the Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill. There will also be a presentation on Victorian Era Toys from President and Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt in the Mills Lawn Library at 11:30 AM. ALL are welcome to the festivities. General admission to the festival is free with for fee activities inside. There’s so much to do in town! Hitch a ride on a horse drawn carriage courtesy The Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce to downtown shops and take in a movie at the Little Art Theater. Contest entrants; deliver your gingerbread houses to Mills Lawn Elementary School between 10-11am on December 10th, activities start at 11am.
