The Ghost of Pandora's Manor - An Immersive Escape Room Experience

Rumor has it that some kids went missing while trick-or-treating at Pandora’s Manor! The locals and police haven’t dared to investigate because word has it there is a ghost that roams the premises. We have been hired to enter and sleuth out what has actually happened so the mystery can finally be solved. If we combine our deductions, we can find out the truth. I don’t believe in ghosts. Do you?

If your child loves mystery themed novels and detective shows, then they will love this program! This experience will give your child the chance to test their critical thinking skills in hypothetical situations based in fantasy and reality. Girl scouts will learn how to excel in puzzles and riddles that involve colors, wordplay, shapes, and math. They will look for misdirections, and break down the steps necessary to solve the puzzles. Throughout the activity, they will be encouraged to share and debate hypotheses with other girl scout detectives to work together to solve the mystery before the program ends.

Learning Goals:

- Improve pattern recognition ability and reasoning ability through various puzzles

- Distinguish between linear vs. non linear puzzles

- Develop strategies to maximize time

- Learn to think like a puzzle writer

- Learn to make the seemingly "invisible" answer, visible

ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO TURN ON THEIR CAMERA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EVENT FOR ATTENDANCE.

ALL PARTICIPANTS NEED TO BE REGISTERED SEPERATELY. LINK SHARING IS NOT ALLOWED AND ANY PARTICIPANT WITH NON-REGISTERED SIBLINGS/FRIENDS/TROOP MEMBERS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE PROGRAM.

FAQs:

How do I access the program and what devices can I use?

• The program is held through Zoom. You can use any device that runs Zoom (laptop, tablet, phone)

Can my whole troop participate together?

• Yes they can! Girls can either join the event from their own homes, or they can meet in person and join the event on one or multiple devices.

Are girls allowed to share a device?

• Girls are allowed to share a device as long as each girl has her own ticket.

If I sign up multiple girls for the same time, will they be working together?

• Yes, every girl that signs up for that event time will be in the same Zoom, and will be working alongside other girl scouts to solve the mystery.

What type of characters will girls meet in the program?

• Girls will get to talk to and interview fun characters like a talking pumpkin, a talking painting and a friendly zombie.

How long is this event running for?

• This event is running until the end of 2024, with multiple event times each day. Each program runs for 45 minutes.

What are the minimum and maximum participants for an event?

• We run our public girl scout events for a minimum of 2 girls and a maximum of 18 girls. Each event typically has around 3-5 girls. If a troop or service unit is participating, they are allowed to have over 18 girls.

What age range is best for these programs?

• The event is open for Daisies-Ambassadors and we have girls in all age ranges who rave about the program. The puzzles & riddles are age appropriate, and the faciliator can make them harder or easier based on who is in attendance.
