Description

The Gendered Experience of Youth Leadership in SRHR: Addressing the Disequilibrium

Young women and young men have radically different experiences working as advocates on sexual and reproductive health issues. How does gender influence the motivation, experiences, and career trajectories of youth leaders? And what more can be done to help girls and young women thrive in meaningful SRHR careers?

This session will explore how gender influences the motivation, experiences, and career trajectories of youth participants and leaders in SRHR initiatives. Youth leaders and their adult allies will then discuss what more can be done to help girls and young women grow and thrive in meaningful SRHR careers. To underpin the discussion, findings from the YIELD Project’s new white paper on gender will be shared. Join this session to gain insight into what holds girls and young women back from achieving their full potential in SRHR; how we can better structure our programs and organizations to create equal and enabling environments; and why we should take specific steps to disrupt the gender disequilibrium.
