Stymied by Iowa’s shortage of qualified workers? Join The Gazette for the first of its three Business Breakfasts set for 2019. Challenges and Opportunities for Iowa’s Workforce is scheduled for 7:30 a.m., Thursday, April 4 at the Geonetric building in Cedar Rapids’ NewBo District. Doors will open at 7am.

The topic: The latest in Iowa workforce assessments indicate a continued demand for workers across multiple fields. Innovative strategies to raise awareness, training and collaboration with community resources are in play. What’s working and what’s next?

Who’s on the panel: The Gazette business editor Michael Chevy Castranova will moderate a panel of Iowa’s leading workforce solution experts. Panelist participants include:

  • Laurie Worden, Director for Workplace Learning Connection (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)

  • Kyle Horn, Founder and Director for America's Job Honors Program (Des Moines, Iowa)

  • Ryan West, Deputy Director for Iowa Workforce Development (Des Moines, Iowa)

  • Ron Cox, Director of the Center for Industrial Research and Service (Ames, Iowa)

  • Jennifer Yi Boyer, Chief Talent Officer for ACT (Iowa City).

What to expect: Attendee networking with a light breakfast and community partner NewBoCo, followed by a panel discussion with audience Q&A about the latest in workforce development, training and employee recruitment programs.
