Event description
MENU FOR DECEMBER 17, 2019 - "Fancy as F&%k" Proceeds benefiting Chef Chase Gintner during his healing from injury

About this Event

Each month, Chef Nicholas Hymel will present an entirely unique seven-course culinary experience, drawing influences from U.S. and worldwide regions, cultures, and cuisines.

Proceeds from these monthly culinary experiences will assist our chef colleagues and friends in need, who are underpaid and under-insured. We want to lift them up and help them to keep following their dreams in the culinary arts!

The restaurant industry, as a whole, has faced an epidemic since its inception. We all love to eat amazing food, enjoy incredible experiences, and we especially love to sit and laugh out loud while the chefs in the back hustle to make the food amazing. The epidemic facing the industry that we all love; no healthcare options for the underpaid and overworked culinary artists. It truly is a problem.

Through “In the Weeds” Monthly Supper Club, Gather & Forge will be serving those who make it their life’s work to serve others. We believe everyone should have the ability and opportunity to chase their dreams, regardless of the obstacles they encounter. Through this effort, Gather & Forge will seek out chefs who may need just a little more help getting through tough times. A significant portion of our ticket sales will go directly to the person in need. The rest will go toward helping our chefs obtain and keep health and disability insurance.

This month, proceeds from this dinner will go to our amazing friend and colleague Chef Chase Gintner. He experienced injuries in a car accident that have prevented him from working for a long stretch. Chase's insurance doesn't cover his lost ability to work, leading to overwhelming unpaid bills. You can help Chef Chase by purchasing a ticket for this amazing culinary experience. You can also read all about his situation at the following link, as well as donate additional funds directly to him via GoFundMe, if you wish:

Thank you so much for your generosity!

The theme for each monthly dinner menu will be announced as soon as it has been decided. But part of the fun is always the unknown, surprising and unique flavors that you will experience!

Chef Nicholas Hymel will be leading and creating these monthy culinary experiences. Chef Nick originally hails from South Louisiana, but his travels have taken him to many places, profoundly influencing his culinary creations. After studying in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Chef Nick studied in Lyon, France for a bit, as well as in Calabria, Italy. He came back home, working in New Orleans for four years and has now been in Austin for five years, serving as executive sous chef at Odd Duck and Barley Swine. Chef Nick recently stepped away from Austin's Barley Swine as an executive sous chef to come work with Gather & Forge Private Chef Service. The ability to create without limits is now allowing him to share with you an entirely new culinary experience.
