The Gand Band with special guest Donna Herula!

Winner of the CV Independent’s Best Local Band for three years running, this dynamic husband and wife team bring their Chicago sound to the desert.

Veteran bluesman Gary Gand handles the six strings, driving the band, channeling a bit of Freddie King, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck rolled into one. Keyboardist Joan Gand grooves on classic Hammond B-3 style organ and blues piano with inspiration from Booker T, Ray Charles, and Otis Spann, all while her left hand is laying down the bass.

Throughout this series of 3 concerts, special guests will join the Gand Band including top notch performers from both Chicago and San Diego.

The Gand Band appears in the new film,"My Name is Lopez" - a documentary about 60s celebrity vocalist/actor Trini Lopez. Trini was a frequent guest performer until his death in 2020.

Donna Herula is a blues and Americana singer, songwriter, resonator slide guitarist, and Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee. Playing a variety of blues styles, her songwriting tips the hat to the tradition while creating a fresh, contemporary perspective on blues and roots music.

Donna’s album “Bang at the Door” was nominated for a 2021 Blues Blast Music Award. It reached #1 on both the Blues Album Chart and Acoustic Blues Album Chart (Roots Music Report) and #3 on the Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart. She was voted “Artist of the Year” by the 2021 Doc’s Blues Awards in the UK and her song “Bang at the Door” won 1st place at the 2022 International Acoustic Music Awards in the AAA/Alternative Song Category.
