About this Event

#NUFuture Needs You

Engage with CNU Southwest Chapter members and professionals for a day of defining the future of the New Urbanism. Help us build a vision and strategy for a movement and organization that creates impact on people’s daily lives through community design and development.

What You Can Expect at #NUFuture

Attendees are welcome to participate in a full day of presentations, strategic planning, networking and a walking tour of the Mercado District. Professionals and academics from the perspectives of planning, architecture, history, building and development, and urban advocacy will discuss topics including historic patterns of segregation in Tucson, Reshaping Metropolitan America, pattern books, electing urbanists and active transportation. Strategic plan session participants will engage in crafting strategies to leverage a vision for New Urbanism's next summit.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided courtesy of our sponsors at PLAN*et Communities, LISC Phoenix, and Vitalyst Health Foundation.

What #NUFuture Means for Congress for New Urbanism

Determining our movement’s next overarching goal is not something the CEO, the National Board, or even the Founders can do. It needs to be something that is organic and that engages—and resonates with—as many members as possible.

When we collaborate, we can provide clear direction for the New Urbanist movement. Working together with allies, partners and new voices, we can achieve tremendous progress for Southern Arizona in the next several decades.

What is #NUFuture?

#NUFuture is an intentional, ground-up effort to identify and articulate an overarching goal for the New Urbanist movement for the next 10-20 years.

This is a unique moment in time in our generation: a call for action as governments at all levels, as well as private and nonprofit institutions, to re-orient themselves to more locally-based solutions. We need to seize the opportunity in front of us to accelerate the New Urbanist agenda.
