The future of local devolution - dinner with James Palmer
Sat, April 22, 2017, 12:30 PM – 7:30 PM BST
Join us on Saturday 22nd April to hear the Conservative Mayoral candidate for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough outline his views on the future of local devolution, which is a hugely topical debate at present. We will be hosted by local Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson who will be talking about his role as PPS to Rt Hon David Davis MP (Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union). David Campbell-Bannerman MEP will also be joining us. David sits on the European Parliament International Trade Committee and is also heavily involved in the Brexit process having been a leading Vote Leave campaigner. It promises to be an extremely interesting and thought provoking dinner.
The running order for the day will be:
- FOR THOSE DEPARTING FROM LONDON: Meet at Kings Cross station at 10:15AM
- Meet at Peterborough station from 12:15
- Meet back at the Great Northern Pub from 4pm for post campaigning drinks
- FOR THOSE JUST JOINING FOR DINNER: Meet at 5PM at the Great Northern hotel (just opposite Peterborough station)
The election will take place on 4th May and will be the first of its kind. The new Mayor will have significant powers of transport, infrasture, skills and housing, overseeing an annual budget of £20million for the next 30 years (£600 million). In addition, they will oversee a £170 million housing budget.
We will meet outside Peterborough train station for a spot of campaigning from 12:30 and will then have dinner at the Great Northern hotel from 5pm. It takes under an hour to get from London Kings Cross to Peterborough and the Great Northern is right next to Peterborough station.
The dinner itself will be £26.50 for three courses and wine.
