Technology is changing where and how people work: the role of FMs is no longer just building management. Instead, organizations are looking to FM departments to enable high performance physical and digital workplace experiences. Furthermore, the real estate proposition is increasingly becoming an enabler of organizational success and employee productivity, utilizing new metrics and measurements for workplace performance. With the automation or outsourcing of many of the traditional FM tasks, now is a critical moment for emerging FM professionals to leverage their education and talents to think differently, engage across disciplines and drive the industry forward.

Industry experts will explore how community management, social media, augmented reality and user experience (UX) for Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS) trends are prompting innovation and opportunity in the changing FM landscape:

Social media is an increasingly viable test bed of discovery for listening and communicating with your occupants. Learn how innovative FMs are leveraging a diverse array of technologies in the new workplace, and how the community manager role in start up is shifting expectations for FMs.

Augmented reality (AR) is enhancing everyday experiences, from product and brand advertising to space planning. AR for FM presents an exciting opportunity to play with a variety of digital layers that can enhance the design, experience, and management of workplace facilities.

Technology is not just about improving digital experience, but rather seamlessly blending the physical and digital experience. Apps like Opentable, Hotel Tonight, Seamless, AirBnB, and Liquidspace are shifting expectations towards integrated and frictionless workplace experiences.
