Speaker Biographies

Currently a Program Manager at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Careline Romain works with teachers to help implement youth entrepreneurship programs for high school students in under-resourced communities. Previously, Careline served as a Grants Specialist at Broward County Public Schools, Project Director of Miami NICE for the City of Miami, COO of FANM, Contract Manager for The Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade County, and Associate Director of Programs for the March of Dimes. Caroline holds a BA in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University and is also currently pursuing her MBA.

Kaitlyn Smith is an alum of Coral Gables Senior High School. Prior to graduating in 2016, she started her blog, Kandidly Kait, where readers can go to find an abundance of style tips, vlogs, and advice. Kandidly Kait began as a place for her to combine her love of style, education and giving advice to share with other #GirlBosses like herself. With her blog, Kaitlyn went on to win her schools Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Business Plan Competition and then participated in the NFTE Startup Summer Camp to expand her business. Today, Kaitlyn continues to run her blog and is an incoming sophomore at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in Finance and minoring in Public Relations.

Khareem Oliver has always loved animals, but he grew up in a small apartment and could not own a pet. For this reason, he has always volunteered with a local animal rescue organization, where he became deeply aware of the pain and suffering experienced by both pets and their owners, when a pet goes missing. He took the NFTE entrepreneurship course at Coral Gables Senior High School at the recommendation of a friend. That’s when he was inspired to develop a solution for the problem of lost pets. Khareem’s business, Find or Found provides a technology-abled pet collar tag linked to an app and a website, which connects owners to their pets. After his NFTE class, he was accepted in the Start Up Summer program, where he so impressed the judges with his business pitch that he walked away with the $5,000 top prize. He is currently working with a developer to bring his vision to fruition. He confesses that juggling a business with the demands of school can be challenging, but feels strongly that “when you see an opportunity, take it!
