World Wildlife Fund is coming to New York City!

Achieving lasting success in conservation requires collaboration and innovation. Join Nik Sekhran, WWF’s new Chief Conservation Officer, to hear how we convene partners to protect the future of nature around the world—from NGOs, to governments,o local communities and businesses. Fueled by your support, WWF leverages these collaborations to achieve great success, including progress toward reducing demand for elephant ivory and a decrease in poaching incidents of rhinos, tigers, and other wildlife. Together with other WWF supporters, we will explore our work to protect wildlife and wild places by accelerating conservation impacts through innovation.

Nik Sekhran
Chief Conservation Officer

Over a 26-year career, Nik Sekhran has worked to protect the environment and transform the development pathways of countries to ensure they are both greener and more equitable. He came to WWF from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where he most recently served as director for sustainable development, leading a team of over 200. Sekhran grew up in India, surrounded by wildlife. After earning degrees in economics from the Universities of Bath and Cambridge, he worked in the government of Papua New Guinea on numerous biodiversity conservation initiatives. He joined the UN in 1997. There, he established the first biodiversity Policy Framework adopted by a multilateral development agency. Under his watch, UNDP’s Biodiversity program grew from $400 million to $1.6 billion, with projects in over 100 countries.

Partners in Conservation

Partners in Conservation is a community of committed supporters joining forces to create a brighter future for wildlife, people and the planet. By pooling your contributions with those of other Partners, you ensure a greater impact as WWF fights to secure a future for animals in their natural habitats, from pandas to elephants to marine turtles. WWF helped bring back the Amur tiger in Asia and the black rhino in Africa from the edge of extinction. We are giving dwindling populations of black-footed ferrets and river dolphins a second chance. Our work is far from done, and WWF constantly strives to protect the species—and the habitats—we all care about.
