The Future of Agile and DevOps

Abstract:  The industry continues to push buzz words, and we keep hearing about the death of scrum vs long live agile. It is adoption wave after adoption wave, and sometimes it gets tiring. Ever feel like hoping off the hype-cycle for a bit of rest? In this talk we will be diving into these trends, and how they impact each of us in the coming year. No hype, just a real view of the technology world and a lot of technologist dad jokes.

Devlin Liles is the president of Improving Houston and a passionate technologist. He prides himself on staying a generalist, but his passion is leveraging technology to solve the problems facing business. Devlin has an entrepreneurial mindset and has been a key contributor to growth and success of the Houston office being one of the founding employees in 2011.

Since 2007, he has been presenting and teaching classes on software development practices and tools to audiences around the world including user groups, conferences, and community events. Devlin held the Microsoft MVP Award for 6 years, most recently in ALM. He is the co-author, along with his good friend Tim Rayburn of Entity Framework 4.1 Experts Cookbook. When he is not in front of a crowd or behind a computer Devlin is an avid soccer player and hobbyist gamer.

IMPORTANT: Sysco has implemented a new building access security policy that includes installation of electronic turnstiles.  For check-in, you will go to the security desk where one of the ALNH volunteers will assist you with getting a visitor/turnstile entry access card and lanyard assigned to you.  Wear this while you are at the meeting for access to/from the auditorium and restroom facilities.  Be sure to turn this in at the security desk when you leave.  Pre-registration to attend the meeting is very important, and will expedite the check-in process when you arrive.

Thank you for your cooperation and respect for Sysco’s enhanced security measures.

Meeting Location: Sysco Corporation

1390 Enclave Parkway - Houston, Texas       281-584-1390
