THE FUTURE IS FEMALE: The Role of Brazilian Women in Politics

With Marina Helou (State Deputy REDE-SP) and Enrica Duncan (Project Director at NOSSAS)

The event will be held in English

Marina Helou is a 32-year-old mother and State Deputy in São Paulo by Rede Sustentabilidade, the sustainability party in Brazil. She founded and currently participates in several political initiatives, such as Vote Nelas (Vote for Her), a multi-party initiative to elect more women in Brazil. Prior to politics, Marina worked for 8 years for Natura, a Brazilian cosmetics company that owns The Body Shop, where she created the diversity and inclusion team. She has a progressive platform, that includes early childhood development, water and conservation, human rights, and encouraging political participation. She believes that politics must be a space for all.

Enrica Duncan is a project director at Nossas, a civic engagement laboratory based in Brazil. Nossas has led projects on human rights, participatory politics and women empowerment through initiatives such as DefeZap, Meu Rio, Mapa do Acolhimento and Beta. Enrica is a political scientist with a degree from the New School. She has lived and worked in Brazil, South Africa, Japan, and Belgium before joining the organization in 2014.
