Event description
Join us for two days of reflection, embodied practice & nature connection in service of our commitment to collective liberation

About this Event

*This event has been rescheduled to April 12-14th. All details have been updated to reflect the new date.

Welcome to the future!

We are excited to invite you to participate in our first immersive offering, a weekend-long training retreat at River’s Bend on the Navarro River!

The future is an immersive nature experience where we honor the indelible marks that systems of oppression have made on our beings and bodies. The wilderness is not our way OUT of those realities, rather it is our way INTO a container that can hold all of our shaping as relevant, urgent, and sacred, while also nurturing our capacity to choose healing.

During our two days together we will return to our senses. We will explore belonging, create space for parts of ourselves that we’ve exiled, discover the role of the wilderness in our efforts for personal & collective liberation, ritualize our intentions, and allow ourselves to be witnessed in community and in nature. All of our practices will be grounded in anti-racism, intersectional feminism & body liberation. Come shape the future with us!

Details.

Where: River’s Bend Retreat Center on the Navarro River

When: April 12-14, 2019; 3pm arrival on Friday & 11am departure on Sunday

Who: Claire & Olivia. Find out more about us below.

Who else: We are calling in white, female-identified folks to participate in this retreat*

*We, ourselves, represent white, upper-middle class, queer, able-bodied, and cis-female identities. We are holding the tension between our vision of the future being a radically inclusive space, and our awareness of the limitations we possess in our ability to hold a safe and supportive space for non-white folks. Additionally, we will be working directly with whiteness & white supremacy. We believe in the practice of affinity spaces which respects the boundaries of POC who should not have to give their participation to that work. We are committed to growing toward a future that is led by a multi-racial team and can meet a wide range of humans.

Lodging & food: We will be sharing a cabin at River’s Bend Retreat Center. All meals will be provided. Although we are sleeping indoors, our time inside will be limited. We will be taking good advantage of the incredible land that is lovingly stewarded by the River’s Bend crew.

Accessibility: We will be inviting folks to move their bodies in ways that feel available to them and exist within a range of options to meet different levels of ability. We will also be inviting folks to venture out onto the land. Please reach out to us directly if you have concerns about accessibility.

Additionally, this will be a low-no scent space.

Cost: We are offering this retreat on a sliding scale of $345-$200. We ask that you make an honest assessment of your financial ability and choose your price based on a practice of economic justice.

Questions?: Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any of your questions or concerns. We can be reached at thefuture.connect@gmail.com.

Register now! And tell your people to join you. Space is limited so we recommend registering early.

In solidarity toward our collective healing,

claire & olivia
