Event description

Description

By watching scenes from films and television shows, learn the history of undertaking in the U.S. and how funeral service has changed over 150 years. In The Funeral Director on Film, pioneering death educator Gail Rubin entertains and educates with insights from Hollywood portrayals of “the last man to let you down.” Your ticket provides all day access to the National Museum of Funeral History, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Gail Rubin is a Certified Thanatologist, a fancy name for a death educator. She uses humor, video clips, and outside the box activities to teach about end-of-life issues. She is the author of three award-winning books on end-of-life issues: A Good Goodbye: Funeral Planning for Those Who Don't Plan to Die; Kicking the Bucket List: 100 Downsizing and Organizing Things to Do Before You Die; and Hail and Farewell: Cremation Ceremonies, Templates and Tips. She will sign her books, available in the museum's bookstore, after the talk.
