The Forum Workshop for POC, May 2019
Event Information
Description
Please be aware, this event is for individuals of colour working in the creative sector, specifically those early in their careers.
The Forum is working with partner organisations to empower early to mid-level career individuals working in the creative sector to be able to speak about their employee experience honestly and without fear.
So if you work in the sector, whether that is a theatre, performing arts, music, advertising or publishing etc, and identify as a person of colour and wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with us, we would love for you to join us as we dive into the all important topics about the sector.
By supporting companies to identify areas that may need improving, the Forum aims to pinpoint and highlight possible issues being faced by individuals from black, Asian, and minority ethnics in order to understand how to create safe, positive and progressive environment for everyone involved. By environment, we mean the physical presence of your workplace and the condition as well as values.
Background
Research and statistics show that people of colour working in the creative industries progress at a much slower rate than their white colleagues and are more likely to leave the creative industries.
This, as well as other social inequalities, has led the Forum to conclude that there may be some on-going issues at entry level that the industry is unaware of.
This workshop is the beginning of many of the discussions we will be having throughout the year about employee experience of people of colour who are working in the creative sector.
