The Forum: Woke@Work - Black Excellence with Radical Authenticity
Event Information
Description

CODE SWITCHING. MICROAGGRESSIONS. SCAPEGOATING.
Let's face it- thriving in the workplace as black professional can be challenging.... and being isolated (most common in the Bay Area) only heightens those challenges. That's why the African American Employee Network ("AAEN") and Onyx Community Connection ("Onyx") have launched the first of a series of important conversations focused on black excellence with radical authenticity- or how to thrive professionally while being true to oneself.

This conversation provides a safe space for participants to gain inspiration and strategies from our experienced panel that has shown the courage to express themselves throughout their career. It is also a forum for participants to share their stories and feelings, deepen their understandings of their coping mechanisms, and learn skills to thrive personally and professionally in 2019.
Live Interactive Polling/Q&A via Smart Phone - Find out what's on the minds of your peers. Where do you fit in along the curve? Submit your questions to the panel. See results displayed live on our big screens.
Topics include respectability politics in the workplace, microaggressions, personal branding, workplace toxicity, code switching, managing job stress, mental health, speaking ones’ truth and the role of employee resource groups..
A portion of proceeds will benefit PG&E Black ERG Student Scholarship fund.

Final sale. Refunds not offered.
