The Focus Foundation's Oktoberfest 2018 - Safari

The Greater Philadelphia Fundraising Committee for the Focus Foundation will host our 8th annual Oktoberfest: "Safari". The event will be held Thursday, October 11th, 2018 from 6pm-10pm with an exclusive VIP reception from 5pm-6pm. This year, again enjoy the evening in downtown Philadelphia at The Ballroom at the Ben with your friends and business associates. As always, live auction items including vacation get-aways, sports memorabilia, jewelry, and more will be available! It is sure to be another exciting evening for a worthy cause (with a few surprises). As underwriters of the event, we are committed to helping The Focus Foundation continue their mission to identify and help children with XY Chromosomal Variations, Dyslexia and/or Developmental Dyspraxia; Because every child deserves the chance to succeed.

With monies raised in 2017, The Focus Foundation expanded their research and increased awareness in communities that care for children with chromosomal variations. The team also developed a broader network of outreach for early detection and treatment, with the following accomplishments;

• Opened a 49er Clinic in the UK and with your help will be retuning in December of 2017
• Conducted the second 49er Clinic in Italy in April of 2017
• Major Medical Conference Exhibit participants and scientific presentations
  • Society for Behavioral Phenotypes in Sienn, Italy
  • American Society for Human Genetics in Vancouver, Canada
  • American College of Medical and Clinical Genetics in Phoenix, Arizona
  • Partnerships with:
    • Leuven University to understand the neuropsychological aspects of the boys with extra X or Y
    • Dr. David Page of MIT to study the genes on the X and Y chromosomes and their impact on learning and behavior
    • Drs Bressler and Zabel of John's Hopkins University to understand the impact of methylation on anxiety and depression in XY disorders
    • An most important of all thousands of children throughout the world were helped through consultations, evaluations and parent training from as far away as Brazil, Australia, Jordon and as close as Philadelphia NYC and Boston.
