The Henry Miller Library presents THE FLYING ROBOT INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL!
(aka The World According to Eddie!)
A night of short film curated by our dear friend, Eddie Codel!
Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 8 pm!
Now, if we could read your mind, we'd guess you're thinking, "Intriguing...Thursday nights short films at the Library....but not what I'm accustomed to. What the?"
"What the" indeed!
The Library is taking a breather from the International Short Film Screening Series for this summer. Re-charging the batteries, if you will. A hiatus. A respite.
But we whipped up something pretty cool in its place.
We asked folk in our inner orbit, "Would you consider curating a night of short film at the Library? What makes you tick? Take us into your world! (Tell us about your mother.)"
We got many compelling responses, and the first installment across the summer comes to us from our pal in San Francisco, EDDIE CODEL, the man responsible for, among other things, oh, y'know the HENRY MILLER LIBRARY'S WEBSITE.
Check out Eddie here. He's cool!
Eddie brings to us the Flying Robot International Film Festival, the world's first international film festival focused on drone culture and aerial cinema created from the perspective of drones.
It's fluttering down to Big Sur for one night only!
The last year's inaugural FRiFF received over 150 short film entries across 7 categories from 35 countries. Come see the winning selections as determined by the Flying Robot jury. Fun for the whole family!
Now we admit drones may not be your cup of tea. They tend to detract from a sunset or two. But when utilized properly, they can do some amazing stuff in the cinematic space. And it's precisely this space the FRIFF explores. There's a lot of unchartered territory up there!
Don't believe us? Check out one of the festival's "runners up" (we're not sure about the grammar there) -- Teahupo’o, Du Ciel by Eric Sterman:
Now imagine seeing this on outdoors, on our big screen and world-class sound system, surrounded by towering redwoods and a canopy of stars.
Go ahead. Imagine it. We dare ya!
By donation. (Please let us know if you end up not coming as we would like to make your space available for someone else. Space is limited!)
World-famous Popcorn (made with coconut oil, of course!) will be served.
Beer and Wine available.
Join us and Buckle up!!!
