It’s on!

The first ever mini-seminar from the Victorian Child and Nature Connection:

“Inspiring Nature Play” is a half day seminar that brings together key thought leaders to share their experience and wisdom with anyone who believes that kids do better outside. Hear the growing body of evidence that ‘nature play’ is fundamental for early childhood development and discover inspiring examples of how this is done around the world.

Get up to date with the latest research and innovations and grab this rare opportunity to pick the brains of some of the most inspiring people you might ever meet.

Sue Elliott is a lecturer in early childhood education at RMIT University and a long term nature play advocate. Hear about her ‘Bush Kinder’ program and learn of international research that makes the case for engaging children with nature.

Chris Joy is Education Coordinator at the Royal Botanic Gardens and one of the designers of the Ian Potter Foundation Children's Garden. Chris has been a pioneer of nature play techniques for many years and her presentation will include a walk-through the garden to see her ideas in action.

Deborah Prentice is the Team Leader of Sustainability at Parks Victoria. She will explore the thinking behind Park Victoria’s ‘Healthy Parks, Healthy People’ philosophy and the programs created specifically to get kids into parks. She will also take you through her adventures in combining dance with nature.

Narelle Debenham has been creating dynamic outdoor play spaces for children for the last 20 years and has discovered the power of free and unstructured play. See how, through the 'Natured Kids' playgroup, children develop empathy, creativity and a sense of wonder. Learn how to transform your area for happy, healthy outdoor family fun.
