Event description

Description

At the inaugural Evening in Blue, leaders in the New Orleans cultural community will lend their voices in support of children and adults with Autism, their exceptional families, and the committed professionals who serve them. We will also highlight some of the “un-sung heroes” in the New Orleans area who have dedicated their lives to advocating for the Autism community.

Among community leaders at the Evening in Blue will be very special guest Delfeayo Marsalis, of the "First Family" of New Orleans music. Delfeayo is an advocate for the Autism community and will join us in this imporant community gathering.

Our big news: the 2019 Evening in Blue will announce the new Master’s in Applied Psychology program at the University of New Orleans, spearheaded by UNO's Department of Psychology and the Chartwell Center. This degree program provides training in assessment, including autism diagnosis, and work is underway to expand training to include applied behavioral analysis. Applied behavioral analysis is in great demand in the Autism community.

Proceeds from the 2019 Evening in Blue benefit the Chartwell Center of New Orleans, providing children and adults with Autism with best-in-class services. 50% of Chartwell’s community members are from low income households, and your support makes it possible to provide the best care available for some of the most in need.
