Description

Are you interested in a career in STEM librarianship, whether health sciences or physical sciences? Want to check out Penn Libraries' Biomedical Library? Or do you just want to meet other Philly-based librarians and library students over light refreshments? Then join us for the first Annual Alice B. Kroeger Spotlight on STEM Librarianship Event! After a panel presentation on STEM Librarianship, attendees will have the chance to tour the Biomedical Library's 3D Printing Laboratory, hear about short and long-term renovation plans of the Biomedical Library, and enjoy a light reception.

This event is co-hosted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Biomedical Library, the Drexel University Library and Archives Student Association, the Philadelphia chapter of the Special Libraries Association, and Drexel’s Metadata Research Center. This event is open to students from Drexel and other area institutions, information professionals, as well as faculty and staff. In-person attendees will need to show photo ID to get into the Library. Can't join in person? Online access will be provided during the panel session via Zoom: https://drexel.zoom.us/j/448147872.

About This Event

Alice Bertha Kroeger (May 2, 1864 – October 31, 1909) founded the library science program at Drexel University in 1892, formerly within the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry, and directed the program until her death in 1909. Her talent was recognized by Charles Ammi Cutter, and she became student of Melvil Dewey, at the New York State Library School at Albany.

Drexel University Library & Archives Student Association (DULASA) strives to provide learning and networking opportunities for library and information science students and act as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information about trends, issues, and opportunities in the library, archival, and information science professions. Find out more on DULASA's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dulasa/

Special Libraries Association - Philadelphia Chapter will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2019. The chapter is diverse, with members from eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware. We work in all types of libraries and in a wide variety of disciplines and business areas, such as engineering, pharmaceutical, competitive intelligence, legal, retail/e-commerce, and publishing.
