Event description

Description

Mounting your first low budget feature film can be an overwhelming enterprise. A thousand pre-production decisions. Unexpected production challenges. And piles of post-production paperwork and confusing legalese that you'd much prefer to hand off to your lawyer (if only you could afford one!). In this session, we'll break down the indie feature into its most basic elements - pre-production, production, and post - and provide first-time feature producers simple tips and resources for navigating each of these stages successfully.

This workshop is part of The Greenhouse's Filmmakers Lab sponsored by Canon. For information on other workshops in this series go to www.greenhouseproductions.com/filmmakers-lab/!

Who should attend: Filmmakers, directors, producers, anyone who wants to learn more about making low-budget features

Requirements: Pen/paper, computer, or something to take notes

By the end of this class you'll know how to:

  • Properly set-up and protect your production entity during pre-production
  • Read and interpret vital production documents and reports
  • Oversee an efficient post-production campaign

Instructor: Justin Bell is a creative feature film, TV, and commercial producer based in Los Angeles. A graduate of USC's Peter Stark Producing Program (MFA), Bell's films have ranged from studio movies (Away We Go and Our Family Wedding), to notable independents (Elsa & Fred), to faith-infused projects (Full of Grace). In 2012, Bell produced his first low budget feature film, A Leading Man.

A light dinner will be served at this event!
