Join us for the event The Female Body in Transit which will bring together writers, performers, scholars and artists for an evening of stimulating talk, visual art, dance-performance and video focusing on the unsettling bodily experience of womxn of colour - niet-Westerse allochtone vrouwen - in-between spaces of political and affective belonging.

The niet-Westerse allochtone vrouw: the mashing of race/ethnicity and gender (but also sexuality, class, age and able-bodiedness) translates in the way womxn traverse space, negotiate (national) belonging and assert agency under (in)hospitable conditions. This evening will focus on the bodily experiences of strangeness and dislocation that become the womxn of colour’s repertoire of world making. Scholar and cultural critic Patricia Schor and visual artist Neyde Lantyer will depart from their life-stories of transit between their place of birth, Brazil, and their place of residence, the Netherlands, and bring a group of ground-breaking writers, artists and performers to creatively reflect on their own being in-between the Netherlands and other (Southern) geographies. Names confirmed: writer Hodan Warsame, dancer-performer Thais di Marco, visual artist Renata de Andrade, and more to come. Be prepared for a thought provoking and a body poking evening in transit!

This program is part of the International Women's Festival at Studio/K, for more information about the rest of the program and for updates go to: https://www.facebook.com/events/363595674114041/.
