The Feast is about action, and we get a lot of it. After every conference, there are a ton of inspiring new collaborations, experiments, prototypes, and product launches. We thought it only fair to share and to help provide these projects the support and momentum needed to make them a reality.
So, we're kicking off a little something called a Project Party.
How It Works
On May 8th, project starters and innovative thinkers and doers from wide-ranging backgrounds will come together in a participatory effort to explore social challenges and opportunities. We'll begin the evening by spotlighting three awesome, Feast-inspired ventures. Each will present their project, next steps and what they need to make it happen.
The rest of the night is about action. After presentations we'll break out into groups, in which everyone will have the chance to collaborate with the presenters on projects ranging from data apps in search of user-feedback, national initiatives in search of partners and designers (you name it!). In working together, attendees will form relationships, have a chance to offer advice and feedback, learn from industry experts and share resources and energy to help take these projects to the next level.
Join us for an evening of brainstorming, scheming, building, dreaming and indulging in the company of brilliant minds; now that's tasty.

Sam was the owner & principal of Sam Potts Inc., an independent graphic design company in New York City operating from 2002 through 2009. Clients ranged from publishing to philanthropy to restaurants to the art world. Some of his most successful and best-known projects are: three books by humorist John Hodgman; two websites for Jon Scieszka, the U.S. ambassador for children’s literature; and the complete identity system for the IFC Center, the Independent Film Channel’s flagship movie theater in New York.
Since 2004, Sam has designed the branding, packaging, posters, and in-store materials for the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co., as well as the publications and websites for the superhero store’s alter ego, 826NYC. Both organizations constitute the non-profit writing and tutoring center in Brooklyn, New York, founded by Dave Eggers.
Matt Yasecko, COO of +1
In 2006, seeking a means of supporting Haiti through their music, Montreal band Arcade Fire connected with the work of global health care non-profit Partners In Health. By simply adding a dollar to every ticket sold, Arcade Fire and their fans began a movement which generated over a million dollars for PIH’s life-saving work in Haiti, engaged over 1000 trained volunteers, and created a community of over 50,000 fans devoted to the intersection of music and activism.
Seven years later, the dollar-per-ticket donation model has proved an incredibly simple and effective way to raise significant funds and build a community of support for PIH. +1 is formalizing and scaling this model, building an engagement and fundraising platform for the music and entertainment industries and they could use your help!
Jennings Hanna and Alex Todaro, Co-Founders of Pen Moms
Pen Moms is a project we began at The Feast Hackathon last year. It’s centered around the idea that low income moms need more conversation in their lives but have huge trust issues. We set out to build a webapp that allows these individuals to start and foster conversations around issues that are important to them with others that share their personal situations. Since then, we have been working on developing a deeper understanding of why our users would need this product and how to engage them on their turf without coming across as charity.
Our first Project Party will be held at the amazing space that is Story. We're thrilled and you should be too. Story is a unique 2000 square foot retail space on 10th avenue; it has the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells like a store. Lucky for us, we couldn't be hosting our first Project Party at a more perfect time; May 8th coincides with Story's introduction of a new theme (we promised to keep it a secret, but we promise you'll love it!)-- the place will be gleaming! Get excited and come check it out!
We've partnered up with CollabFinder, a really awesome resource that brings together genius collaborators and projects to help get them off the ground.
Check out and join our Feast group and if you are working on something inspired by the Feast, post your project.
