Event description

Description

The purpose of the WLA symposium is to (1) gather a passionate group of attorneys and students to (2) learn about the history of women in Missouri's legal field, and (3) discuss what vision we have for the future of women in the legal profession. The symposium will first feature The Honorable Nanette Laughrey, U.S. District Court Judge on the Western District of Missouri, Dana Tippin-Cutler, the current Missouri Bar President, and Amanda Ketchum, the managing partner at Dysart Taylor, as they discuss their pioneering careers in the Missouri legal arena. This panel will be followed by Karen Glickstein, Megan Phillips, and Stephanie Wan, members of the Joint Commission on Women in the Profession, who will discuss current barriers women face in the legal profession and how the Commission is working to break down those barriers. Finally, we will hear from our keynote, Judge Mary R. Russell on the Missouri Supreme Court, about the importance of female representation in all aspects of the legal field.
