Description
The Evolution of Social Government: Hyperconnectivity, Social Data & the Future of Social Government
2012 has been an extraordinary year for social media in the public sector. NASA’s Curiosity Rover captured the world's attention with its tweets from Mars, US Geological Survey advanced its Twitter Earthquake Detection Program, and the GSA's Center for Excellence in Digital Government made huge strides in advancing social government initiatives across the federal government.
As the number of social media users continue to accelerate, and smartphone and tablets enable us to stay connected everywhere we go, social media is creating exciting new opportunities for government agencies to collaborate, engage with the public, gather useful data, and achieve their missions more efficiently and effectively.
Featuring leading experts on social media in the public sector, this panel will present a wide-ranging discussion including:
- Innovative examples of how government agencies are using social media
- Emerging opportunities for social data to inform agencies’ missions
- Evolving opportunities for social media to inform policymaking and drive change in government
- The future of collaborative government – what to look for in the years to come
- Key areas the new administration should focus on to advance social government in the next four years.
