Event description
Join us for an interactive discussion around the ethics of photography - particularly in today's interconnected social media world

About this event

In recent times, the world has been shocked by photographs taken of individuals at the scene of accidents/distressing situations, even when sadly deceased – for example, the photographs taken at the scene of Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash, in the mortuary of Emiliano Sala’s body and distressing images broadcast from the football match of Christian Eriksen’s collapse.

Using these examples as a catalyst into further discussions, and with individuals armed with cameras and smartphones more than ever before, this interactive workshop/discussion will consider these challenging issues, along with consideration of potential solutions and answers for the future (as part of a broader research project – see here: https://thefutureofprivacylaw.wordpress.com/).

This event is being held as part of the University of Southampton and ESRC's Festival of Social Science 2021.
