Trauma-Informed Care is the new buzz word for behavioral health practice. But what does it mean? How does it apply to generalist practice? What tools are necessary to become "trauma informed"?

This training seeks to answer that question. Join Janelle Stauffer, a local therapist, community advocate, and trauma specialist, as she shares some essential theories and practice that inform her individual and community work.

What you will learn:

This is considered an intermediate training for clinicians serving clients who have experienced trauma. This training will review the theories, practices, and professional self care necessary to serve clients who have experienced trauma in any form. Participants will leave with the following knowledge:

  • Ethical & Theoretical Assumptions of Trauma Informed Care

  • Basic understanding of hypervigilance & dissociation

  • Five essential pillars of safe trauma treatment

  • Understanding the role of helplessness in trauma treatment and dealing with it within the therapeutic relationship.

Continuing Education Units:

CEUs (Pending NASW’s approval) are available for Social Workers (LSW, LMSW, LCSW), Counselors (LPCs, LCPCs, LMFTs) & Psychologists.

6 CEUs are available, including 1.5 Ethics CEUs
